Petty Cash Template

A petty cash template is the amount put aside for meeting miscellaneous expenses of a business. It is basically a report which includes all petty cash expenses, and it is prepared at the end of the day in which all cash in and out transactions are recorded. This report may be a simple sheet printed on the company letterhead or a simple page. To be sincerely speaking, petty cash register is a small amount of money which is put aside by a cashier for effectively meeting with all the miscellaneous expenses of a business. A petty cash template is maybe a petty cash receipt, petty cash voucher and petty cash status report. It is drafted as a form, providing space for date, amount disbursed, name of the person who receives money, expense title, signatures of concerned people.

How Petty Cash Account Worked?

A petty cash balance is always maintained as per the policy of a business or office. Normally, a dedicated staff is appointed to look into matters of petty cash along with other responsibilities. After a certain period, usually after a month, the ending balance of the petty cash account is reconciled with the current cash balance and the assigned employee will match the closing balance with the opening balance to find out the exact amount of monthly expenses. The said employee is accountable for allocating the cash to petty expenses during that period. As per standard procedures, a cash receipt, cash slip or cash voucher is provided by an employee who wishes to draw from a petty cash balance. This receipt, slip or voucher will be considered as the legal proof of a petty cash transaction.

Importance of Petty Cash:

A petty cash register format is a very crucial business document which is widely used to monitor daily-based small cash transactions to meet business as well as office requirements. The petty cash account is used to make payments for these petty expenses, but an employee pays it from his/her own pocket. A specific amount balance is set by management which can be utilized by employees for day to day minor activities. By controlling these expenses through petty cash, a manager can have a more organized system which can assist him/her without putting in his/her own money. This petty cash form will help the petty cashier to keep a considerable amount of money as a reserve payment for business, which could be used in multifarious situations when a company badly stands in need of some cash.
