Volunteer Registration Form

A volunteer registration form is a form that is used for processing and screening a volunteer by collecting the information that’s related to him/her to see if they are suitable for the given volunteer role. This form should only contain relevant information regarding the thing you want to volunteer for. This form is used by different organizations so that volunteers can sign up for different projects or events by the company that they are interested in and think they are capable of. Usually, this form is used by non-profit or charity organizations to allow people to register if they are interested in volunteering. Every person has a different reason for volunteering. Some people do it just for fun or for the sake of their interest and some do it for gaining experience and understanding the work by performing it. No matter what your reason is, one thing is clear, that your goal is the same, that is, to do something without any monetary exchange. There are many different types of fields that you can volunteer for, such as you can apply for any shelter home, museums or retirement homes. Different organizations have different policies, but for all of them you will have to fill out a volunteer registration form.

What to Include In a Volunteer Registration Form?

If you are the person who is taking the volunteer registration form, then you should make sure you include the things given below to add in the form. Summing up all this information in a form can be hard, but this can’t be neglected if you want to get good volunteers with the help of your form.

1- Keep your Form friendly: It is important to keep your form friendly and make the reader feel like you are welcoming them for volunteering. You can start by writing an introductory paragraph about what your organization is working for, who you are serving and how many volunteers you need for it. You should also add some things that the volunteers that are already there in your organization do and how your organization makes volunteering fun for them, so it is an activity from which they gain experience as well as enjoy it.

2- Ask for vital information: To fill in a volunteer registration form properly, there is some information which I need to ask. It depends on the nature of the work you need the volunteers for and the people you are serving, but a few of the important ones are:

Contact information of the volunteer and their email.

Date of birth.

An emergency contact that you can contact if needed, should also include what the relationship of the volunteer is with them.

Previous work or volunteer experience.

Highest education they have received and if they speak different languages.

Limitations of the physical work they can do.

The above-mentioned things are a few of the important information which needs to be asked from those who are willing to volunteer, but you can also add more stuff related to the work if necessary.

Note: it is important to keep in mind that your organization and the staff member can be held responsible in case of any illegal volunteer work unless proper steps were taken when hiring someone.
